About IRMAA
Jay Vera’s International Realistic Martial Arts Association is dedicated to serving all martial artists. Our mission is to unite martial artists of all styles and systems from around the world within one organization. IRMAA is not a political organization, but rather a reference and support organization for martial artists. Our goal is to help one another, as well as support those who have dedicated their lives to the martial arts.Jay Vera started the International Realistic Martial Arts Association (IRMAA) in 2008 to have a place for new and older generations to come together. Jay wanted this organization to be a place everyone could interact and display genuine respect and compassion for each other.
The Seminar:
Each year IRMAA hosts one of the largest and most diverse martial arts seminars in United States, the IRMAA Seminar & Awards Banquet. This event is a celebration of Ohana sisterhood and brotherhood. The event is a place were everyone can unite in fellowship, share and learn martial arts skills and have fun while doing so. Each year we see many new faces and make great new friendships. We have great instructors who bring excellent students to the seminar and become part of our family. You don’t need to be a member of IRMAA to attend this training workshop. We strive to keep our event open to everyone, so you have everything to gain and nothing to lose.

Aloha Martial Arts Brothers and Sisters! The seminar is closing in… I can’t believe it’s September already. We’re getting really exciting and are looking forward to seeing everyone. Many thanks, to each and every one who attended the seminar last year!
This year’s event will be held on October 12, 2013 at the Shreveport Downtown Hotel located in… you guessed it, Downtown Shreveport. We are looking forward to seeing our family and friends again this year!!!! Here’s what you can expect at the seminar this year. The seminar itself will be broken into two parts again, each part will last for 3 hours with a 1 hour lunch break in between (lunch is not included with the seminar).
Registration is at 8:oo am. At 9:00 am, everyone will break into groups and the seminar will begin. For the duration of the seminar, there will be 12 instructors (Grandmasters, Professors and Masters) from several different martial arts backgrounds sharing their knowledge. 2 of these instructors will be sharing their knowledge each hour. They will specifically instruct and share their own individual martial arts techniques with all seminar attendees. Much is gained during this seminar, and you will leave with a wealth of knowledge.
Here are some of the Martial Arts styles that will be represented at the event this year.

Once the seminar portion of the event is over, we will have time to take photos and chat with friends and instructors. We will then take a break and get ready for the evening events. First, we’ll be meeting for cocktails and a slide show at the Hotel from 6:00 to 7:00. Then the awards banquet/ceremony/dinner will begin promptly at 7:00 and last for 3 hours, during this time there will be many awards presented, dinner served and a raffle.
